University of Vienna

The summer semester is finally over and most of the students are already returning to their homes or busy with their work. Therefore, the University area is much more quiet and pleasant than usual. With all the hurrying up to classes or exams, I don’t get to stop and admire the beautiful building so I decided to take some pictures today since I was in the area.

The University of Vienna was founded by Duke Rudolph IV in 1365 and it is the oldest university in the German-speaking world and one of the largest in Central Europe. Currently, about 92,500 students are enrolled at the University of Vienna. 187 courses can be taken, of which 55 are Bachelor Programmes, 116 Master Programmes, 4 Diploma Programmes and 12 PhD Programmes.  There is more information on that if you go here.

It’s located at Schottentor on the Ringstrasse and houses the main lecture hall (Audimax), lecture rooms, institutes and the best of all – the university library.

Even though the semester is over there were a lot of students writing or learning here. Just imagine how it’s like in the exam week.

Since Hogwarts does not exist, we’ll have to settle for this. :)
